Wilmer Aburto is a Calgary based photographer born in Nicaragua. He moved to Canada at the age of 10, at the same age his parents gave him his first camera. Wilmer has
published and exhibited portraiture set in Calgary, Montreal, Tokyo, Granada, Havana, Chicago and Venice. He is active in projects that apply the arts to engage in social
advocacy and inclusivity; working with children, seniors, Canadian newcomers,
individuals with disabilities/mental health barriers. In February of 2017 Wilmer exhibited part of this collection at Reunion Gallery in Chicago. His work was exhibited in Italy at the Imago Mundi: 'Great and North' exhibition during the 2017 Venice Biennale.
